Pre Rup Temple:

East Mebon Temple:
This combination of sandstone, brick, laterite and stucco, temple stands on what was an artificial island at the center of the now dry up East Baray Reservoir. The sculpture at the East Mebon is varied and exceptional, including two-meter-high free-standing stone elephants at corners of the first and second tiers.

The temple Originally designed for medical purposes (the ancients believed that going into these pools would balance the elements in the bather, thus curing disease); it is one of the many hospitals that Jayavarman VII built.

Preah Khan Temple:
The temple is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. Preah Khan has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins.

The houses sit on tall stilts which for the most of the year are fully submerged in water. Some houses can even be as high as 10 – 12 metres. Every year, the Tonle Sap floods the surrounding areas and provides life to the region. Sunrise of Angkor Wat:
Watch the sun rise behind the monumental temple to provide the most stunning of silhouettes. even in the wet season, this is a magical time to see sunrise of Angkor wat.

Angkor Wat Temple:
Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world, was originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture, it has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors.

Ta Prohm Temple:
Built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th century, it was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm is in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor’s most popular temples with visitors.

Banteay Kdei Temple:
Temple known as “Citadel of Monks” is a Buddhist temple in Angkor, this Buddhist monastic complex is currently dilapidated due to faulty construction and poor quality of sandstone used in its buildings, and is now undergoing renovation.

Bayon Temple:
Built in the late 12th or early 13th century, The Bayon‘s most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak. The temple is known also for two impressive sets of bas-reliefs, which present an unusual combination of mythological, historical, and mundane scenes.

Baphuon Temple:
Built in the mid-11th century, it is a three-tiered temple mountain dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. In the late 15th century, the Baphuon was converted to a Buddhist temple. A 9 meter tall by 70 meter long statue of a reclining Buddha

Nice way to explore the temples
Country: HK

Mr. Bunna was our guide. He was so fantastic, and I don't have enough kind words to say about him. He was friendly, funny, extremely knowledgeable of history and legend combined, and he was wonderfully patient with my 10 year old daughter. This was THE HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip in Asia. Bunna took us to all of the place in the itinerary and knew exactly where to take the best pictures which were ALL MIND BLOWING shots! It was truly an adventure of a lifetime, and we will never forget it. MUST DO activity. Worth every penny.
