TOUR ITINERARY


DAY 1: ARRIVAL PHNOM PENH

Visit National Museum, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Choeung Ek Killing Fields


Morning:  Welcome then transfer your hotel for checking in, then we start to explore Cambodia’s capital city, it is now a lively city with many French colonial buildings and plenty to see. We spend the morning visit the National Museum, home to more than 5,000 artifacts dating back to the ancient Angkorian period. It equips visitors with some great knowledge ahead of a trip to Angkor Wat Archaeological Park. The Royal Palace serves as the King’s residence, a venue for court ceremony and a symbol of the Kingdom. The palace compound is also home to the Silver Pagoda, the inside of the pagoda is equally stunning as countless handcrafted silver tiles are covering the floor, We continue onto Wat Phnom, the city’s glittering centerpiece before having some free time in the city.

Afternoon: relax for lunch, we then continue visit the emotive Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, formerly a high school that became the Khmer Rouge’s main torture and interrogation centre; and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek – the memorial stupa is a glass tower filled with human skulls – a gruesome reminder of the scale of Pol Pot’s atrocities before returning back to your hotel.

DAY 2: PHNOM PENH

Visit Silk Island or Koh Dach, Royal City of Oudong, Sovenir Market


Morning: 7.30 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

Today after breakfast, we excursions close to the city include a trip to Silk Island or Koh Dach is reached by a short ferry journey along the Mekong where the majority of villagers on the island earn a living through producing handicrafts. It is a great opportunity to learn more about traditional ways of life and interact with locals as you learn about the island’s iconic silk weaving.

Afternoon: relax for lunch, we then continue the abandoned Royal City of Oudong is about an hour north of the capital and offers the opportunity to explore attractive historic temples and stupas on the mountains. On the way perhaps visit some of the capital’s numerous markets, such as the old Russian Market of Psar Toul Tom Poung, renowned for its textiles, jewelry, and antiques.

DAY 3: PHNOM PENHMONDULKIRI


Morning: 7 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

This morning we make an early start for our drive to Mondulkiri, stopping somewhere for lunch and photos opportunity at Spider Market on the way. Later in the day, we arrived at your hotel in Krong Sen Monorom, checking in and sunset view on a hill called sea forested. Overnight in Mondulkiri.

DAY 4: MONDULKIRI

Today is not our program, you will pick up by Mondulkiri Elephant Adventure for the tour as detail below:

Visit Sen Monorom – Mondulkiri Project Jungle Lodge – Otey River & Waterfall – Sen Monorom


Morning: will pick you up from the main street of town at 8.20am.

8.45am – 9.00am
Drive to the starting point of the tour which offers views of the large area of forest which has been protected from logging by the Mondulkiri Project.

9.00am – 12.00pm
First, we walk from the hilltop into the jungle to the Mondulkiri Project’s Jungle Lodge. Here you will listen to your guide talk about the Mondulkiri Project. Next, it is time to meet the 5 elephants and their Mahouts. Take lots of photos, get close to the elephants and have fun feeding the elephants bananas. Watch as the elephants walk around eating bamboo and enjoying being elephants.

12.00pm – 2.00pm
After walking back to the Jungle Lodge it is time for lunch and relaxing in hammocks. The Lodge has great views over the jungle and is a good place to view wildlife and many species of birds. It also has a western toilet.

2.00pm – 4.30pm
In the afternoon we return to the bottom of the valley and walk to the waterfall to have a swim. It is time to have fun swimming and washing our elephants in the river to keep its skin clean and healthy and free from infection. Elephants really enjoy having a bath! We then walk to another deeper waterhole where we watch some other elephants playing in the mud and having a swim to wash themselves.

4.30pm – 5.30pm
After saying goodbye to the elephants we walk back through the jungle to enjoy the sunset over the Mondulkiri Project. You might be lucky and see wildlife such as monkeys, deer, and many birds.

5.30pm onwards
After returning to the Jungle Lodge it is time to relax by the fire. Your Bunong guide will prepare a traditional Bunong soup cooked inside bamboo. After trying some Bunong rice wine it is time for dinner and a meal of traditional Bunong vegetable soup, bbq pork, and vegetables. More time around the campfire and then time to sleep in hammocks. And then overnight stay at our Jungle Lodge.

 

DAY 5: MONDULKIRI

Today is not our program, you will pick up by Mondulkiri Elephant Adventure for the tour as detail below:

Visit Mondulkiri trek – Mondulkiri Project’s Jungle Lodge to Putang Village to Sen Monorom


Morning: will start at 7.30am.

7.30am – 8.30am
Wake up, warm up around the campfire and enjoy breakfast at the Jungle Lodge with its lovely views over the Otey River.

8.30am – 12.00pm
We start today’s Mondulkiri trek from the Jungle Lodge deeper into the jungle, first crossing our new log bridge across the Otey River. Our Bunong guide leads us through some beautiful jungle with many different types of trees, flowers, vines and beautiful stands of bamboo. You will pass by many Bunong farms within the jungle. Visit the impressive Leng Khin waterfall which is over 50 meters high.

12.00pm – 1.00pm
Lunch break at the jungle campsite alongside the beautiful Leng Ong waterfall. This is a lovely place for a swim.

1.00pm – 4.30pm
After lunch, you will continue walking and then stop at a Bunong farm clearing and see cassava, chili peppers, lemon grass, wild rice, pineapples, and cashew nut trees. Next, we continue on passing by the large Leng Ret cave and Leng Ret waterfall. See some bats sleeping inside the cave. After more trekking through the jungle, it is time to get your feet wet crossing the river. Now we will leave the river for one last climb out of the jungle before arriving at the Putang Village. Here see traditional Bunong long houses, children playing and pigs and chickens running around.

From the village, you will be picked up by car for the short drive back to Sen Monorom.

DAY 6: MONDULKIRIKRATIE

Visit Boat Cruise, Irrawaddy dolphin


Morning: 7 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After Breakfast, we leave behind the wilds of Mondulkiri, we travel to the provincial city of Kratie, a sleepy Mekong port and gateway to an encounter with the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphin that inhabits the upper reaches of the Mekong in Cambodia. Once we arrive Kratie, we check in to the hotel and rest until 14.30pm. Then pick up from the hotel, excursion on the old national route #7 along the river bank towards Kampi. One of the many deep pools where the rare river dolphins gather to feed. Along the way, we journey pass through a village that produces delicious snacks, famous sticky rice cooked in bamboo (Krolan) and pickle raw fish in banana leaf (Nhem). These tasty snacks are famous all over Cambodia and locals would never leave Kratie Province without buying a stock for relatives and friends back home. A must try at least once. Having arrived in Kampi, we board a local boat and cruise out into the mighty Mekong for a chance encounter with these gentle mammals. Viewing is guaranteed. Tour boats will take you closer to these shy and sensitive mammals. If you listen carefully you might hear the dolphin breath through the blowhole on the top of its head. After enjoying an hour or more of dolphin viewing, we travel back to Kratie.

DAY 7: KRATIEKAMPONG THOM

Visit Rabber Tree Plantation, Sambor Preikok


Morning: 8.00 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After Breakfast, we leave Kratie along the Mekong river bank to Kampong Thom, crossing Mekong river by ferry to Chamkar Leu District in Kampong Cham Province, we stop to see and learn a bit about Rubber Tree Plantations before arrive your hotel in Kampong Thom for checking in. After a refreshing, we continue to visit Phnom Santuk a hill and cultural site and most sacred mountain of the province. At the top are a white-walled temple and many shrines and deities, including several reclining Buddhas made out of the rock. Phnom Santuk is a hill of 679 feet (207 m) elevation, which rises above the Tonle Sap river valley. The top can be reached either by climbing 809 steps or via a paved road, 2.5 kilometers (1.6 mi) in length. Vistas of Tonle Sap valley can be observed from the peak, with sunset views over the rice fields considered to be a major tourist attraction. Phnom Srah Kmao, located next to Phnom Santuk, contains a brick temple and bat cave. Then back to your hotel.

DAY 8: KAMPONG THOMPREAH VIHEAR

Visit Sambor Preikok – Preah Khan Kampong Svay temples


Morning: 8.00 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After a freshly prepared breakfast, we check out from your hotel to explore the nearby ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk. This UNESCO World Heritage Site pre-dates the Angkor period, it is thought that some of the earliest buildings were constructed in the 7th century during the Chenla Kingdom. These red-brick temples, enveloped on all sides by leafy forests are each dedicated to the three Hindu gods Shiva, Bramha, and Vishnu. Each temple features its own style of intricate carvings set into the sandstone, and the complex feels quite different to the Angkor temples that we will have to visit in Siem Reap. After some time to appreciate the peaceful surroundings of Sambor Prei Kuk, then continue to Preah Khan Kampong Svay, It stands as the largest single religious complex ever built during Angkorian Era, as its exterior enclosure is about 5 km square, even if the isolated location makes it one of less visited Angkorian sites. We turn back onto the main road and head for Sra Aem district in Preah Vihear province.

DAY 9: PREAH VIHEARSIEM REAP

Visit Prasat Pre Vihear & Koh Ker group temples


Morning: 6.30 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

This morning we head off very early, directly to Preah Vihear temple located at the top of the Dângrêk Mountain range, arrived the foothill we need to connect to a 4X4 SUV or moto to drive up the mountain. Preah Vihear Temple is an ancient Hindu temple built during the reign of the Khmer Empire on the top of a 525 meters height on the mountain. Even parts of the temple were destroyed during history, it still looks magnificent and unique among the temples of Angkor. From the top of the mountain, you will also obtain a spectacular bird’s eye view of the land and view. Continue your exploration to Koh Ker Group by 2 hours driver, on the way to Koh Ker, you will stop on the way for a simple lunch. The Koh Ker group consists of more than 180 sanctuaries in a protected area of 81 square kilometers, but now only around a dozen monuments can be visited by tourists. The most famous temple is the seven-tiered and 67 meters pyramid temple and Prasat Pram with the trees growing on and it roots entwine other on the ruined temple at Koh Ker. Then transfer to your hotel in Siem Reap.

DAY 10: SIEM REAP

Visit Kulen Mountain National Park (The River of 1000 Shiva Lingas – Reclining Buddha – Waterfall) – Banteay Srei temple – Banteay Samre – Pre Rup temple (Optional Sunset)


Morning: 7.30 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After breakfast, your private tour guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel then escort you for the full day to see major symbolic importance for Cambodia as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire. Phnom Kulen is considered a holy mountain in Cambodia, of special religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists. On top of the mountains, there are a giant reclining Buddha and a 16th-century Buddhist monastery. Just 5 cm under the water’s surface over 1000 lingas carvings are etched into the sandstone riverbed, The river ends with a waterfall and a pool, pours into a larger area of water which is popular to visit and swim.

Afternoon: relax for lunch then we visit the temples of Banteay Srei, a small but beautiful temples with exquisite carvings. We end the day at Banteay Samre, with a visit to Pre Rup temple for sunset.

DAY 11: SIEM REAP

Visit Angkor Wat, Ta Promh and Angkor Thom City include Bayon Temple


Morning: 8.00 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

Today After breakfast, explore the incredible jungle temple complex of the Angkor period, whose history covers some 600 years, from the 9th through to the 15th centuries. Obvious choices are the magnificent complex of Angkor Wat, one of the most incredible of the jungle sites, and the wonderfully overgrown and atmospheric Ta Prohm, set amidst tangled tree roots and lush jungle and famous as the setting for some of the Lara Croft film Tomb Raider

Afternoon: relax for lunch then we continue our exploration with a visit to the fortified city of Angkor Thom, which was built at the end of the 12th century is enclosed by a square wall with five monumental gates decorated with stone elephant trunks. Originally, crocodiles inhabited the moat and huge statues of 54 different gods and demons protected each gate. The city contains another of Angkor’s true gems – the Bayon. Although not as impressive as Angkor Wat from a distance, the Bayon is nevertheless incredible for its maze of corridors, gothic style towers, and magical central temples. We’ll explore the Terrace of the Elephants and the Leper King, the Baphuon and Phimeanakas.

Evening Activities: Highly recommend you to have dinner with Cambodia traditional shows at Kulen II restaurant (12$ per person for dinner + shows which start from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm). Please tell us if you want and then we can help you to book the front seat for you. Back to your hotel or night market. Overnight in Siem Reap.

 

DAY 12: SIEM REAP

Visit Chong Khneas floating village on Tonle Sap & City Tour include Angkor National Museum


Morning: 8.00AM Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After breakfast we set off into the countryside, the drive is very picturesque, taking us through rural Cambodia, past vast rice fields and through stilted villages, towards the vast Tonle Sap Lake. Here we board our charter boat for a leisurely cruise through the fascinating floating village of Chong Kneas, where we see floating houses, riverside markets and an array of locally made boats. Then continue to Wat Thmey (Killing Field) the alive monastery where a large Stupa memorial can be found. The stupa has glass sides filled with the skulls and bones of those who died during the Khmer Rouge. These have been diligently gathered by local residents in memory of their families and friends. The mass of bones and skulls at the stupa shows the cruel behavior of the Khmer Rouge at the time.

Afternoon: relax for lunch then we continue our visit with the shrine of Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm. Said to represent two Angkorian princesses, these sacred statues were originally housed at the Preah Poan gallery in Angkor Wat but were moved all over Siem Reap for their protection from invaders, eventually settling here in 1990. Locals throng here to pray for luck, especially newlyweds, and it is an atmospheric place to visit around dusk, as the incense smoke swirls around. Next to the shrine are the tall trees of the Royal Gardens, home to a resident colony of Fruit bats (also known as flying foxes) that take off to feed on insects around dusk. We end the day at Angkor National Museum, a state-of-the-art showpiece on the Khmer civilization and the majesty of Angkor. Displays are themed by era, religion, and royalty as visitors move through the impressive galleries. After a short presentation, visitors enter the Zen-like Gallery of a Thousand Buddhas, which has a fine collection of images. Other exhibits include the pre-Angkorian periods of Funan and Chenla; the great Khmer kings; Angkor Wat; Angkor Thom; and the inscriptions.

DAY 13: SIEM REAPBATTAMBANG

Visit sunset view and million bats

Today we travel by national road #6 from Siem Reap onto Battambang, a journey of approximately 3 hours. Battambang is Cambodia’s second most populous city and a popular tourist destination due to the many nearby ancient temples, Buddhist shrines, and the infamous bamboo railway. It is popular with tourists because of its blend of a modern city, small-town friendliness, and some well-preserved colonial architecture, which works together to give the town a unique charm. Arrived your hotel and enjoy your time until 4.45 pm, then pick up for your sunset view with seeing over 5 million bats all leaving the caves as soon as it’s time for them to hunt for the night.

DAY 14: BATTAMBANG

Visit Local village, Buddhist monastery, Bamboo train


Morning: 8.00AM Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

After breakfast, we set off into the countryside visit Phoum Kampong Prahok (Kampong Prahok Villager), learn about fish cheese at a fish paste market, Dried fishes, Bamboo stick rice cake, rice paper, local rice wine and the Buddhist monastery used to be a jailed for the women during the Khmer Rouge regime. Then back to your hotel for rest and Lunch.

Afternoon: 14.30pm pick up for the adventure ride. The Bamboo train was exactly as you’d pictured it – a rickety little mat driven by a motor attached on the back, which felt like a mini-rollercoaster. It was a beautiful way to see Cambodia countryside. After we took the 45 minutes train to a local village and back again, we then stopped off at a load of different local shops to learn about their products. We tasted some spring rolls and bamboo sticky rice (which was honestly so yummy), and finally got to explore to the city.

DAY 15: BATTAMBANGPHNOM PENH

Visit Red Clay Ceramics


Morning: 7 am Pick up from hotel or your preferable timing:

This morning we make an early start for our drive to Phnom Penh, stopping somewhere for lunch and photos opportunity and learn a bit about Red Clay Ceramics in Kampong Chhnang. Later in the day, we arrived at your hotel in Phnom Penh, end of our services.
